Recently some leaders have asked me what they could say in a formations in regards to professional organizations that would meet legal requirements. I have drafted the below in response. I will be happy to post these each month prior to drill if they are found helpful.
“I would like to take a couple of minutes to talk to you about Professional Organizations. Our Chief of the National Guard Bureau says that “these organizations support, promote, and develop the interests of our Armed forces and military professionals.” Currently Professional Organizations are working on several issues for the National Guard Soldier and Airman. These include Tricare eligibility for Technicians, Missouri State Tax exemptions for traditional Guardsman and women, and a variety of benefit retention concerns for dependents and retirees. If you would like to lend your voice to support these efforts, I would encourage you to find an organization that supports your ideas and join. There are many out there who do fine work. If you would like additional information or possibly some recommendations, please see me after formation.
